Seven games on the Sportsman’s Park lot, three with Cincinnati and four with Brooklyn, brought two wins, five losses, and enough sour baseball to keep a manager awake till the milk wagons start rattling. The week closed with St. Louis at 10 and 15, and the sharper cut is this: since that fine 5 and 1 opening, the club has gone 5 and 14. That is not a stumble anymore. That is a skid with gravel in it.
