SAN ANTONIO, Texas — March 23, 1926
The Cardinals returned to the field today and continued their spring work without interruption, moving through drills and controlled play as camp progresses.
The infield remained steady throughout the afternoon. Tommy Thevenow handled his chances cleanly at shortstop, while Rogers Hornsby maintained his position at second, directing traffic and keeping the pace of play in order. Les Bell worked without issue at third, and Jim Bottomley continued to provide a reliable target at first.
There were no disruptions.
Behind them, reserve infielders Specs Toporcer, Andy High, and Jimmy Cooney received additional work as the club continues evaluating depth options ahead of final roster decisions.
Pitchers rotated through their scheduled turns. Jesse Haines and Bill Sherdel remained in regular work, while other arms continued to be evaluated in preparation for the season.
Bob O’Farrell handled catching duties and continued directing the staff through the afternoon.
The Cardinals completed the day’s work as scheduled with no changes announced.
